Dear Community Members, Guardians & Parents,

Career Development is a lifelong process. It begins in the earliest years of school as students build awareness of career possibilities and continues throughout high school as they begin to select courses and prepare for careers of interest. It extends into the post-secondary years as students attend college or other specialized training and enter the workforce. It is a process that never ends as we adjust to changes in the economy as well as in our professional and personal lives.  Message from Arizona Career Guidance Counselor Supervisor

The Guidance Team’s purpose and intention is to help students identify strengths and areas of interest, learn to set goals, plan and prepare for a lifetime of successful learning, earning and living.

The goal of the Guidance Team is to prepare students for success in life. The proposed plan in the San Carlos Unified School District does just that. The contents of this guide should clarify the program, the delivery system and the benefits of Career Development. Please take the time to read about this exciting opportunity for your child’s education and future because …..

High School - Career Preparation

During high school, students begin to engage in Career Preparation. They identify careers of interest, align course work, and gain a depth of knowledge and experience in particular career pathways such as Science & Math, Engineering & Technology, and Visual Arts. Students at this level are also able to job shadow and complete internships in these career areas to better grasp the connection between what they are learning in school and what they will need to know for work.

To compliment Career Preparation, the San Carlos Unified School District partners with Gila Community College. Students have opportunities to earn up to a semester or more of community college credits while enrolled in select high school courses.
