Program Description –Students will be prepared to service computers and
peripherals by discovering how to install, configure, diagnose, repair, upgrade
and maintain microcomputers. With the use of Aries' interactive
computer-based IT training and secure online assessment students are able to
study on their own time, at their own pace, with the medium they are most
comfortable. Skills acquired will assist
students in preparing to take industry A+ Certification exams. A+ Certification
is an industry recognized credential that distinguishes one as a knowledgeable
service professional. PC Maintenance Program will
prepare students with the knowledge and skills essential for a career as an
entry-level service technician. Or they
may transfer the college credit to enter a post secondary computer technology
program.

NAME
OF COURSE: PC Troubleshooting & Repair CIP: 15.1200.10 LENGTH OF COURSE: 2 Semesters GRADE LEVEL 10, 11, 12 PREREQUISITE: Must complete Career Exploration with a C or better.
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is an
introduction to the career of computers. Students will develop
skills for decision-making, educational planning and researching the technology
industry. Topics include analyzing personal career interests, values, and
aptitudes in relationship to computers. Uses of computer hardware
and software in business and society; computer terminology; program
definition and flowcharting/algorithms; introduction to programming using
general purpose language and word processing, spreadsheet, database,
graphics, multimedia, and Internet.
College credit may be granted through Eastern Arizona College inter-governmental agreements with San Carlos High School.

OF COURSE: Intermediate PC Troubleshooting and Repair CIP: 15.1200.20 LENGTH OF COURSE: 2 Semesters GRADE LEVEL 11& 12 PREREQUISITE: PC Troubleshooting & Repair
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to teach the basic principles of PC troubleshooting and repair, including providing a basic knowledge of PC components and their function and how to use Window built-in diagnostic tools. The first semester provides a foundation in diagnosing common symptoms and catastrophic failures as well as proper hardware handling and removal and reinstallation of common components. The second semester provides intermediate PC troubleshooting and repair. Includes diagnosing common windows system failures, changing system configurations ii BIOS and registry, downloading peripheral device drives and the removal of CPU and motherboard.
College credit may be granted through Eastern Arizona College inter-governmental agreements with San Carlos High School.

OF COURSE: Networking CIP: 15.1200.25 LENGTH OF COURSE: 2 Semesters GRADE LEVEL 12TH Grade PREREQUISITE: Must complete at least one PC Maintenance course. COURSE
DESCRIPTION: Advanced techniques in networking with emphasis on the installation,
maintenance, and design of local area networks. CompTIA Network+ exam
objectives are also covered in this course. This professional IT training course
builds a solid foundation of networking administration skills, concepts and
components to prepare students for real-world applications. Aligned to
industry endorsed and certifications. College credit may be granted through Eastern Arizona College inter-governmental agreements with San Carlos High School. |
